Half way

Half way there, yesterday was the half way point and now the days are ticking down faster and fast until I return home to the freezing cold weather. Woo hoo. I think I left off on monday, before I went to the night market. I spent the night at the famous chiang mai night market. First I stopped in the food court and got a pot of tea and watched some traditional thai dancing, no comment. After that I wondered arounnd the actual market and other then the amazing artist it was nothing special. When I was heading back down one street, out of the corner of my eye the golden arches caught my attention and dragged me in for a double cheese burger meal and there was a haagen daas across the street that I managed to get away from. Then I watched a muay thai (kick boxing) fight, which was pretty crappy, they were amatures but the best part was when one guy went for a head kick and the other guy ducked and he went right over the top rope. And now for high light of my night, an hour foot massage!! After walking around all day my feet were killing and it was sooo good and relaxing, I basically floated home after that.

Now for yesterday, in the morning I went to Doi Suthep, which is 17km out of town so you have to take a minibus/taxi there but since I'm alone no one would take just me so I ended up waiting for 40 mins until enough people came to fill it up. This wat is at the top of 306 stairs and I was told you haven't seen thailand until you've been there and that it was good luck to walk up all those stairs blah blah blah. But I did it anyways, which wasn't that bad but wasn't exactly fun. The temple at the top was umm nice, very similar to the other 10 I saw last week and there was a nice view of the whole city if you could see through the fog. When my legs where ready I walked back down the stairs and then to another taxi over to the chiang mai zoo. Now my legs were already tired from the day before and all the stairs but the zoo, the zoo was a killer! Its spread over 200 acres and its all hills, plus the signage is horrible so I was just wondering around most of the time not even seeing animals. It was a very nice zoo but something I'd like to see with a golf cart, which they had but it was at the front and I wasn't going all the way back to get one. I spent most of the afternoon there and then when I felt like i couldn't move my legs anymore I just came back here and crashed. I had a good nap but woke up with a killer headache so I stayed in bed for most of the night.
